First Visit...here's what you can expect
We’re glad you stopped by. Thank you for exploring Union Baptist Church. For many reasons, visiting a new church can be scary – maybe it’s been a while or it’s your first time, maybe you’re concerned you’ll stand out or you won’t know where to go when you drive in, or maybe the pastor will say something incredibly weird or the music will not align with your tastes. We get that, and at Union Baptist Church we have a lot of great people who had those same thoughts before they visited, and they’re waiting to show you around this Sunday morning.
Our desire is that you encounter God in a life-changing way as you worship with us at Union. The information below should help answer some questions you may have.
What time is Church?
9:00 AM – Contemporary Worship Service
10:10 AM – Connect Groups (Application-focused Bible Study based on the morning message)
6:00 PM – In-Home Grow Groups
The Sunday morning service features contemporary music with a full praise band.
Grow Groups are small home study groups that meet in each other’s homes to help us grow our relationship with the Lord right where we are in our individual walks with Him. A facilitator leads the study and discussion of selected topics.
Is there anything for my kids?
Absolutely. We offer a nursery so you can drop off your infants and join us in the Worship Center. On Sunday’s, after the music portion of our worship service, children age 5 through 2nd grade are invited to attend Children’s Church. Children’s Church workers waiting at the side entrance of our Worship Center will lead the children to their class. Immediately following our 9:00 AM service, we offer Connect Groups for children of all ages so they can continue hearing the word of God while you attend your Connect Group.
On Wednesday’s, Nursery is available for infants, AWANA for children through 5th grade, and OASIS Student Ministry for children 6th-12th grade, all beginning at 6:30 PM (through the School Year; 7 pm during Summer Break). All activities end at 8 PM.
What should I wear?
At Union, we want you to feel comfortable when you come to worship the Lord. We don’t have a dress code, but you will find some people dressed in their Sunday Best while most dress business casual.
What will I do after the Worship Service?
At the end of our service there will be an announcement to find Brother Johnny Hastings, our Connect Groups Director. Connect Groups are a time of study intended to help participants connect the content of the sermon to their personal walk with the Lord through further study based on the sermon, as well as learning and sharing with others. Brother Johnny can direct you to a Connect Group that will best serve you.
What if I have questions?
If you have any questions about our service or church, or would like to hear more about the Gospel, our Senior Pastor is available in the main hallway after the service and after Connect Groups.
We also offer a New Members Class periodically. This class is a chance for you to find out more about who Union is, what we believe, how we function, and ask questions. Watch the Announcement slides and Announcement sheet for the date of the next class.
Who is Jesus?
If you have any questions or would like to discuss the Gospel, our Senior Pastor is available every Sunday morning after our morning service. If you would like to have a relationship with our living God we would be glad to help you take your next step in your walk with the Lord.
